It seems that Arizona State University has backtracked on a student privacy issue. Previously, the university had considered disclosure of mental health histories as a security measure. This policy will not be instituted:
“Arizona State University will not require students to disclose their mental-health histories after officials earlier this week confirmed they planned to determine whether such a policy was feasible.”

Arizona State University is to be commended for recognizing that student medical information is private, confidential and inviolable between patient and therapist. An environment where students feel secure in seeking professional help does more for safety than if students were reluctant to address psychological issues. Having a disclosure policy would discourage students from addressing personal problems. - Kudos to Arizona State University.
