Apple Lowers the Price for the iPod Shuffle

Is it still cool to have an iPod? Perhaps the more trendy thing to have is an iTouch. However, for those who have waited to purchase, Apple has lowered the price of the 1GB iPod:
“…The 1GB model is set to retail for only US $49, setting a new low price for ‘the world’s most affordable iPod’, while the 2GB model will retail for US $69.
The iPod Shuffle has been facing competitive threats from the Creative Zen Stone and the Sandisk Sansa Clip, among many other iPod Shuffle-like devices, featuring either cheaper pricing, more memory, more features, or a combination of all three.”

The lowered price is still more than what one would pay for the Creative Zen Stone. Just a brief look online shows that the Creative Zen Stone, with 1 GB capacity, is shipping at thirty five dollars and a bit below. Apple may have to move lower yet…
