It is a time estimate that the L.A. Lakers have heard before… eight weeks. Trevor Ariza will be gone for eight weeks with a broken bone in his right foot. That is the length of time that Andrew Bynum will need to recover from his knee injury. If all goes according to the medical predictions, Ariza and Bynum will be available near the end of the regular season.
With all the Lakers injuries, the Lakers front line needs help. In a search for immediate help, the Lakers have signed DJ Mbenga to a ten day contract. DJ Mbenga has been with other teams previously and his numbers are not stellar. He is seven foot tall though and may find some playing time. The Lakers can ill afford any other injuries. Undoubtedly, the Lakers are looking for additional help but NBA centers are a rare commodity.
