Three Things to Remember About Packing for a Flight

If you are flying this month, there are some things to remember about packing and passing through security with less stress:

1. Don’t wrap your gifts. Even if the present goes in checked luggage, don’t wrap it. If your luggage is tagged for inspection, gift wrapped presents just cause more problems. It will be upsetting to see your carefully wrapped gifts opened. It is just easier to leave the gift wrapping until after you have arrived at your destination.

2. Leave all medication in their original container or packaging. Prescription medication will have the necessary documentation to prevent lengthy inquiry and possible delays.

3. Pack personal items such as your toothbrush and toiletries in a clear plastic bag. This will speed up any possible inspection and perhaps prevent the extra handling of these items.

With the heightened security, there really is no expectation of privacy before flying. The lines will be long and patience will be stressed. These packing suggestion may speed up the inspection process and show that you have given some consideration to the security process.

Well I certainly do appreciate your concerns of packing for a flight. I must say that I do have first hand knowledge and experience that the airport security the passengers experience and what is portrayed in the media is all a big facade. I used to work as an aircraft cabin cleaner for SkyWest Airlines and I’m here to tell ya that the BACK END security is an absolute JOKE! Its random and if and when I am checked at a security point its a very cursory look over the plethora of boxes, containers, bags etc that are jammed on my motorized cleaning vehicle, the glance-over took less than 30 seconds. My cart was checked only about once a week at best.

To get a job in one of these back end areas, one must only have a clean criminal record. It is completely possible for any terror organization to simply get any one of its members who has not been convicted of anything to get a job as a “ramper” (baggage handler), or any number of back end jobs, where they will be in a position of trust and low supervision where they can execute any terror plot they want.

The flying public have been lulled into a sickening level of comfort and trust. What we must all realize is that there really is no such thing as complete security from anything. If a terror group or an individual want to execute a plan, that plan will be executed.

Thank you for your time.
