It’s staggering. The British government is reporting another data breach. This time, there are three million people at risk:
“LONDON (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s government suffered new embarrassment over missing data on Monday when it revealed one of its contractors had lost the details of 3 million learner drivers.”

It is unsettling when one thinks that government officials such as these are responsible for national security. In the so-called ’surveillance society’, data seem to be difficult to secure. Data breaches total in the millions. The total for two recent security breaches is twenty eight million (28,000,000) people. At this rate, soon every citizen in the UK will have had his or her personal information compromised.
