At some point, the RCMP officer must have thought the situation was dangerous. It seems that the officer used a Taser on a sixty eight year old man in a traffic incident:
“Kelowna RCMP have apologized to a 68-year-old man for an officer who made a “serious error” by using a Taser on him while he was seated in his car as police ticketed him for a traffic violation.”

The RCMP have called this an “error in judgment“. - Before police apologists argue about the dangers of senior citizens and the non-lethality of the Taser, the salient issue is that senior citizen is one of the people that the authorities are entrusted to serve and protect. It would be stating the obvious to say that having an unexpected jolt of electricity applied to a senior citizen is a health concern.
