It seems like technology is trying to have an impact on the cemetery industry. The product may fall into the category of ‘who-would-buy this’ but, nevertheless, the digital tombstone is available:
“…The panel mounts to the front of the gravestone and pays tribute to the deceased in color pictures, words, music and even videos. It’s all from a small memory chip inside a device that opens like the front cover of a book…”

Probably you are shaking your head at this point. However, it is possible to take this a macabre step further. Since RFID (radio frequency identification) chips are going to be part of credit cards, cell phones, passports and a myriad of other things, someone will think of adding a RFID chip reader to the electronic tombstone. Then, for example, the RFID reader would be able to identify my chip. Therefore, when I would approach a tombstone that had an RFID chip reader, I would have a personal greeting: “Hi Catherine - long time no see…“
