Tasers and Alcohol

There has been another Taser related death. The person had consumed alcohol:
“Jarrel Gray of Frederick had a blood-alcohol level twice the state limit and was verbally abusive in responding to a Frederick County deputy’s commands before being shocked twice with a Taser on Nov. 18.”

It would be difficult, if not impossible, to have a valid research paradigm to assess the safety of Tasers, when the person being shocked has had alcohol. The individual differences cover such a range and offer such variability. Such factors as heart rate, hydration, pre-existent health issues and a myriad of other variables would impact upon the conclusion. Perhaps the safety issues cannot have valid and reliable testing under designed experimental conditions. However, the field results speak loudly - another Taser related death.
