A Word That Web Hosting People Avoid

On my own site, I have had a terrible day. It takes over four and a half minutes to open one page. That is the time for one single response. Yes, I was sitting there waiting - and waiting - and my blood pressure was rising. So, I timed the problem. To try to post something to my own site, it was at least four minutes to wait for a response from the server. I am not a server expert but I would call that “slow“.
Well, I learned that the word “slow” is not in a web host’s vocabulary. It seems that it is a word to be avoided. It’s a bad word. Bad. - The web hosting support tells me that I have a “web latency issue”. This is a phrase that seems to be used repeatedly. Ad nauseam. And, never shall a web hosting support person say the word “slow”.
It is just a guess on my part but when the server dies and nothing is accessible, perhaps the term will be “recovery rest period”. In other words, the system is dead.
