Sleepy? Don’t Blame the Turkey

After the huge Thanksgiving dinner, you may be a bit sleepy. Most people attribute this sleepiness to the tryptophan that is associated with the turkey. The amount of tryptophan from the meal is not really enough to induce the tiredness. The sleepiness may be attributed to other factors.

The tiredness may be from just too much food. There are loads and loads of carbohydrates in that Thanksgiving dinner. Further, there may be some wine or other alcoholic beverages that may add to the tiredness. And considering the day, with perhaps travel, socializing and work in the kitchen, the time after dinner is a breather from the rush of activities during the day.

Chances are that, when you have turkey leftovers for the next few days, you won’t feel tired and sleepy. And to all the Americans who visit this space - Happy Thanksgiving!
