Mark Messier was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. That is not a surprise to anyone who has followed professional hockey. Mark Messier’s hockey resume is stellar. His leadership skills, on the ice and in the locker room, have become almost legendary.
At times, though, leadership is quiet and addresses the details. In 1994, Messier led the New York Ranger to the Stanley Cup. It was the first hockey championship for New York in decades. In that heady championship victory, Mark Messier remembered the dressing room attendant. Mark Messier wanted the attendant to be recognized with a championship ring. It was not something that he had to do. It just speaks volumes about Mark Messier.
