Major League Baseball Considers Instant Replay

There may be instant replay in baseball. For a game that is so based on human judgment, this may be a landmark shift:
“Orlando, Florida: Major League Baseball general managers recommended instant replay be used for the first time to help umpires make difficult decisions.”

At this time, the instant replay is limited. However, the technology gains a foothold - and a precedent is set. It seems that part of the beauty of baseball is the decision-making. Perhaps human judgment will err but that is part of the allure of baseball.
Undoubtedly, technology could come up with a system that is almost infallible in calling balls and strikes. It could be completely automated. The amount of error would be minuscule. There would be no arguing with the technology, which could supply empirical evidence that the pitch did catch the outside corner and by exactly how much. It would be scientific; it would be highly accurate; but it just wouldn’t be baseball.
