There have been many people who have had problems with the Gmail Manager Extension for Firefox. I count myself among the legion. The extension seemed to load properly and find the account. The problem was that it could not identify the contents of the account. There is a Gmail 2.0 Patch for Gmail Manager:

As noted, this is a temporary fix. I used my account as an initial trial and it restored the functioning of the Gmail extension. I have had three other people try it and it worked for them too. Anyway, this is an option. I know that it is annoying to have this add-on not working. The usual disclaimers apply but this should help.
