In September 2007, Andrew Meyer was subdued using a Taser. The University of Florida police have been exonerated of any wrong-doing:
“…Some had questioned the use of force in using the stun gun against student Andrew Meyer, leading to the investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. A summary of the agency’s report was released Wednesday.
“In short, the FDLE determined that our officers acted well within state guidelines,” university President Bernie Machen said in a letter to students, faculty and staff.”

What may be significant in this finding is that the use of a taser is accepted as a primary response. It may be noteworthy to remember that there have been tragic results.

Maybe they did act with in state guidelines, but that whole taser business seems a little awful. It just looks like it hurts real bad, I know its better than getting shot, but it still looks painful. And like you stated there has been tragic results such as people dying because of heart problems and getting tasered stopped their heart. How unfortunate, sometimes I think they just push the envelope a little too far.

Last month at the University of Arizona, security used a taser on a student trying to enter a foot ball game. I think he was trying to get in without a ticket. But is that really cause for a taser? I think the officers involved were put on “leave” for the duration of the investigation.

He would not have felt the taser’s sting had he not acted in the manner he did……people in America feel that they are not responsible for their own actions and that is what is wrong with this country. I think they took it far too easy on him.
