The Kobe Bryant Advisory System

Things are rather gloomy in ‘Laker land’ when the Los Angeles Times posts a ‘Kobe Bryant Advisory System’ on their online sports page. The Advisory System is a five tier rating system, to assess Kobe Bryant’s status. It goes from a low rating where Kobe Bryant is staying as a Laker - to a “severe” rating, where the Lakers star is going - going - gone:

It seems like a no-win situation for Kobe Bryant. If indeed his goal is to win another championship, with the Lakers or any other team, the organization that would trade with the Lakers would have to give up such talent that Kobe Bryant would find himself back in a familiar frustration. He would be with another team but that organization would be decimated of high quality talent. The most effective strategy would be to wait and walk away from the Lakers - with no trade involved. Of course, that would mean that the L.A. Lakers would suffer the loss of Kobe Bryant and essentially gain nothing back… so the present Kobe Bryant Advisory System for today is “guarded”. ” Stressed” is not a category…yet.
