The police want your picture. It is not just capturing your image on stationary surveillance cameras. Now, it is with handheld telephoto digital cameras and video cameras. In Hampshire, police with surveillance equipment is a security measure:

“…Police say it’s the latest tool in the fight against crime and antisocial behaviour - deterring people on a night out from causing or getting into trouble because they are on camera. Already proved to be a success in Essex, the operation was the first of its kind in Hampshire.”

This is yet another step taken in the Surveillance Society. There is no privacy. It falls under the rubric of ’security’. And it is a little bit creepy.
