Edith Macefield sounds like an interesting person. She is eighty six years old and trying to keep her home. She won’t move - not even for a million dollars. Kathy Mulady has an excellent short article on the Seattle Post-Intelligencer website:
“…Macefield refused to sell her little old house where she has lived since 1966 to developers, forcing them to build an entire five-story project, which includes a grocery store, fitness club and parking garage, around her.
She was offered $1 million to leave. She turned it down flat.”

Sometimes, grace and strength are personified by saying “no”. Kudos to Edith Macefield - and to Bill Martin and his crew.
