Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has introduced a triple core processor:
“Citing poor uptake of the latest desktop quad-core microprocessors from its rival Intel, Advanced Micro Devices said on Monday it would bring out a chip with “three brains” in the new year.”

You might recall that AMD introduced a four core processor only recently. This may seem like a move backwards but AMD is hoping to cover the market in what the consumer needs. AMD is aiming at a greater market share with the price of the three core being less that the quad core. Now the consumer has the choice of one, two, three or four… and no doubt, more soon.
