Hobbton High School is in the United States - in North Carolina. Clothing bearing the flag of the United States is not allowed there:
“…Under a new school rule, students at Hobbton High School are not allowed to wear items with flags, from any country, including the United States.”

What does this say about patriotism and values? It is shameful when political correctness trumps plain, common sense.

We came together after 9/11 but how soon we forget. This is really sad to see this happen in our own country. Shame on you.

Though people think that wearing the US Flag is a patriotic thing (and their hearts are in the right place), the US Flag code does prohibit such display. Such displays as the flag on napkins on July 4th is even against the code. Though my heart is as a patriot, My patriotism resides with the fact that we (our country) have set standards for our flag and that my acting on that patriotism is to follow the US Flag Code.

Well I can see where they are going with this. They probably don’t want other flags being displayed and can not discriminate between foreign flags with our national flag. Their solution is to ban all flags together. Although I do disagree, I can see their point of view.

What the hell is wrong with this country? As for other flags from other countries, fly them in your own house or your own privately-owned business. I have no problem with that. But as for displaying OUR OWN country’s flag–WE should be able to fly it, wear it, wave it, salute it whenever and wherever we like.
This is truly sad…what’s next communism as a way of life? becoming an oppressed Arab nation?
C’mon people, stand up for your rights!!!

Wearing the flag on a piece of clothing is prohibited by the United States Flag Code. It is great to show pride in your country, but there is responsiblity for showing the colors due respect. For more information, see the following weblinks:
