Yahoo! Upgrades Email with Texting

Yahoo! has fired the next salvo in the email wars, with an upgrade to its Web mail service. Now Yahoo! email allows text messaging:

“Today, Yahoo! expands the Web mail service into a “social communication” tool — adding the ability to send text messages to cellphones directly from e-mail.

It has also tweaked the interface to make it easier for people to go back and forth between e-mail, instant messaging and text messaging.”

As Yahoo! moves this service out of beta, undoubtedly the other major stake holders in this sector, such as Microsoft and Google, must have a response in development.
