GirlsGoTech and Staying Cool
Girlsgotech is a site owned by the Girl Scouts of the United States. The intention is to keep girls interested in technology, math, and science. The site has been online for some years now but it is still relevant. There are fun games such as a cryptic codes – and factoids like this:
“The US Marines adopted the use of the Native American Navajo tribe’s language to encode communication during WWII.”

It’s funny you mention this… I’ve been watching a parallel in the world of guitar playing. Much like tech, a better idea is needed.
I run a 7 person IT department, only one of which is a woman. We only have her because I saw she had IT-aptitude and hired her. When I put up a job, I get over 95% male responses.
Don’t get me wrong – I don’t believe in quotas and will only hire the best person for the job, but women need to step up to the plate in general and en mass..
