One’s initial thoughts on buying a laptop are not about how it will someday end up in a landfill. However, that is what Fujitsu has in mind:
“Fujitsu is offering a laptop with a biodegradable chassis made out of plastic derived from cornstarch.
Traditional plastics are manufactured from non-renewable resources such as oil, coal and natural gas. Biodegradable plastics on the other hand are made with plant-based materials and have been available for many years…”

There is no indication of the cost of this biodegradable product, compared to the traditional manufacture of laptops and notebooks. What is environmentally friendly is not always ‘wallet friendly’.

Industrialization and the petro chemical companies worked on destroying a lot of the natural industries back in the first half of the 1900’s…very sad.
