Wal-Mart Blocks Dog Treat Sales

  • No Related Post

Wal-Mart is not calling it a recall. It seems that Wal-Mart is proceeding with caution, in light of the recent problems with contaminated pet food:

“LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. quietly stopped selling two brands of dog treats in July, after customers voiced concerns that the Chinese products may have caused their pets to fall ill, but no recall has been announced, a company spokeswoman confirmed.”

Needless to say, it is time to check the cupboards again to see what treats you are giving to your pet. If Wal-Mart does not feel secure with these products, it may be prudent to throw out these treats.

I would like recall info on Waggin Train Brand Chicken Jerky Tenders
Lot #94708 Bought at Wallmart in New Orleans LA

Thank you for your assistance,
Kathy

There are plenty of high quality dog treats and food out there that dog owners should be aware of. All made in America with quality ingredients and not wheat and corn filler with sugar extract and minuscule amounts of real meat or protein. Most all dog/cat food items found in Wal Mart is garbage. Try checking brands such as Innova, Wellness, Old Mother Hubbard, Canidea, California Natural, Timberwolf, and Nature’s Variety to name a few.

Kathy, here is the Wal-Mart contact information:

I am sure they would be pleased to address any customer concerns. Please let us know what happens…

We have been feeding Waggin’ Train brand chicken jerky strips from COSTCO to our two white toy poodles Barbie and Bailey.

Well that explains it, the health problems off and on over the years after feeding them these strips. The dogs would on occasion get sick, cry to go out, be anxious, want to eat grass after feeding this product. And we would only feed them one per day - thank god only a few times a week but still! In the past they have had bloody stools, diarrhea, vomiting and the Vets could not figure it out.

I looked on the package and its made in China. It says “Sterilized by Irradiation for Freshness & Health”

My theory is that there is bacteria mixed in the product intermittently. God only knows what conditions these are manufactured under. Others think it has to do with the radiation process they supposedly use to supposedly kill harmful bacteria.

One has to wonder why for decades we never saw “Chicken Jerky” sold as human food and still don’t. You would only see beef jerky on the shelves. I wonder if it is because Chicken jerky is too risky. If raw chicken doesn’t get well cooked or cooked at all during the drying process. Then suddenly “Chicken Jerky” comes along, another “product from China” being marketed as “pet treats” Something set alarm bells off in the back of my mind when I saw this, but like others I assumed “they wouldn’t be marketed and sold if not perfectly safe”.

They don’t have to “irradiate” beef jerky during manufacture – why does “Chicken Jerky” require that extra step? Answer: Because raw chicken from an assembly line is a hazardous substance and thus all the cross contamination warnings when working with it in the kitchen.

Something is going to have to be done about these shameful Chinese products.

I bought a “memory foam” mouse pad, made in Taiwan (Taiwan is now part of/controlled by China, same thing) and when I opened the package the chemical fumes coming off the thing were alarming! I took it outside and if it doesn’t improve I’m taking it back.

Our pet Rosie, a 3 year old Chihuahua was poisoned from Chinese made Bestro’s Jerky Chicken Strips #77849 00006 1 We have this contaminated bag. We have three Chihuahuas and one of them died one month ago. She
started with vomiting and dehydration and then we were told she may either have an obstruction or have been poisioned. Since our dogs are inside dogs and we are with them at all times outside we thought it was an obstruction. Finally the doctor
said he was almost positive it was some kind of poisoning at Elwood Animal
Clinic in Glendora, California. They were going to scope her but before that
could happen she died July 21, at VCA in Fountain Valley, California.
We gave our dogs Waggin train and Bestro’s Jerky Chicken Strips. Our Sweet Rosie (our chihuahua that passed) loved them and and she would eat all the treats we put down for the other dogs too. Up until today we never had any idea what happened but now with Wal Mart pulling this quietly from their selves. (I brought my treats at Wal Mart, Glendora, California) I truly believe that is why she died. We called Wal Mart and are getting a run around. We need help. We are totally heartbroken and will never forget Our Sweet Gypsy Rose!
Since Wal Mart had this problem before, why didn’t they pull all that Chinese junk off the first time? Our Rosie will still be alive! Is Wal Mart concerned about people and their Pets or Money? You figured it out.
