Pentagon Closes One Data Base

At first, it appears that it is a small victory for civil liberties and personal privacy. The Pentagon is shutting down one of its data bases… well, almost shutting down:

“WASHINGTON - The Pentagon said Tuesday that it will shut down an anti-terror database that has been criticized for improperly storing information on peace activists and others whose actions posed no threat.”

The data base will be sent over to the FBI. And, of course, the data base itself will be maintained at the Pentagon. There is no indication about how this data base has been shared or with whom. After all, such matters are a secret…
