Seized Goods Go to an Online Auction

Have you ever wonder what happens to all those items that are seized by the authorities from criminals? Instead of having a huge warehouse just to store this property, the Sheriff’s Office of Okaloosa County, Florida, puts it online. It is an auction:

“…This is how it works: The Sheriff’s Office will do a test run first with its seized items. The people with propertyroom.com will pick it up. They’ll clean, fix and appraise the items, when necessary, and then put them on its online auction block.”

As with all purchases made without actually having the product in hand, it is ‘caveat emptor’ - buyer beware. Nevertheless, it is interesting to look at the auction site and just see what sort of things are seized. You will be surprised.

Now I wonder what they do with all that ’stuff’ that they confiscate at airport security…
