One would think that some common sense would prevail. Apparently that is not the case. Some advertising people thought that showing a dog being hurt would draw attention to a vehicle:

“DETROIT (Reuters) — Chrysler Group apologized on Thursday for an advertisement that showed a dog being electrocuted beside its new Dodge Nitro sports utility vehicle.

One would think that, in the whole developmental process of this advertising concept, someone would have stopped and re-considered whether this was socially appropriate. The fact that the advertising proceeded as far as being released on YouTube is disconcerting. Advertising is suppose to appeal to the masses. Didn’t anyone think that the pain and suffering of a dog might be disturbingly cruel?
