Researchers have found that dropped cell phone calls may be the result of solar flares:
“…Dr. Thomson said his study found the rate of dropped calls could be as high as nine per cent in the summer. That number was calculated during one morning rush-hour in the U.S. Midwest.
He said the numbers would be similar in Canada.”

If you have been noticing that there are certain areas where cell phone reception is inconsistent, it may not be your imagination. It may be due to the direction that the cell phone antennas face for that area of coverage.

I’ve got news for you. This is from someone who wrote software that controls the towers for the cell phone industry. It works like this; If you’re on “Free Minutes” and a caller that is “On the Clock” makes a call and the tower is full, you will be dropped, first on, first dropped. It’s not solar flares, ectoplasm or Moon Spots. It’s profit and nothing else. However, if you’re on the clock, so to say, and you’re dropped it’s probably just lack of service for what ever technical reason.
