Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Has a Security Breach

It is a rough month for security information in Ohio. On the heels of the stolen storage device from an intern’s car, the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation reports another security breach:
“COLUMBUS — A laptop computer stolen from the home of an employee nearly a month ago contained the names, Social Security numbers, and other personal information of 439 injured workers, the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation revealed this morning.
The computer had been missing two weeks before the bureau began to investigate what information it might have contained…”

One might wonder why there was a two week delay before steps were taken to determine what data were breached. Apparently, the agency has no definite security policy for such matter.
