  • No Related Post

If you are a victim of the 2005 ChoicePoint data breach, the deadline for filing a claim is near:

“Victims with out-of-pocket expenses due to the breach have until Aug. 18 to file claims and be eligible for payments from a $5 million fund that ChoicePoint agreed to pay in its January 2006 settlement with the FTC.”

It is estimated that there were 163,000 Americans who had their personal information compromised by this 2005 security breach. You may claim the expenses for such things as credit monitoring. The Federal Trade Commission has a web page to address this issue:

It is important to have your name on that claims data base. Once your claim is filed, supplemental details can be added at a later date. However, you must filed by August 18, 2007.
