Cell Phones and Solar Power

Imagine no more recharging unit. - The cell phone would be recharging constantly from light sources:
“A solar panel built into the phone can use light sources, including candlelight, to recharge.
…Sun-powered cellphone chargers have been around for a while, but this invention is built into the unit, not a separate device.”

That would mean one less plug-in to remember to take when you travel. Theoretically, with using light as an energy source, the problem of a low battery is eliminated, for the most part.

The problem I see here is two-fold. One, the number of cells to keep a phone working would be enough that the entire outer surface would need to be covered with them. How would a person hold it without blocking the cells? Two, the cells are fairly delicate, and as many phones as I’ve seen with broken screens, I’m certain the cells would have to be covered with a protective layer. That layer would cut down on the efficiency of the production of electricity as a matter of course.
