All Ohio State Employees Have Personal Information Compromised

One disk contained the personal data of all the state employees of Ohio - sixty four thousand (64,000) people. That disk was stolen.

Governor Ted Strickland indicated that “it takes special equipment to access the information on the disk, so he doesn’t believe the workers’ privacy is in jeopardy.”

Governor Strickland does not elaborate what this “special equipment” involves. However, a data base such as this means criminal access to millions and millions of dollars for some knowledgeable hackers. The hope is that the person who has the disk has limited hacking skills. And that speaks volumes about security…
