Dog Fighting: Animal Cruelty

Let me place a caveat at the very beginning of this article. This is not pleasant reading. For those with a love and appreciation of dogs, you will find this disturbing. If you would rather not be upset, pass on this article.
I have written previously on these pages about dog fighting. The comments and emails were interesting - and some I edited and did not allow on the Nexus site. The response, however, did tell me that there is a minority of people who see ‘nothing wrong’ with dog fighting. Their point of view is that law enforcement should find real criminal activity to focus upon and leave tax paying citizens alone.
The following are two excellent articles that take an in-depth look at this activity:
link: The House on Moonlight Road
link: Going for the Throat
Such articles will not alter the perception of those who participate in this activity or who find this as ‘entertainment’. It is a blood sport. It is cruelty to dogs. It is a crime. - Centuries ago, dogs made a covenant with man. For sharing our caves and dwellings, dogs would do our bidding. I think that humans break that covenant when we destroy the social loving nature of dogs and turn them into killing machines. Surely, we are better than that.
