Apple may have removed the digital locks on iTunes. However, there are identifying data on the purchases:
“Some fear this data could be used to identify the owner of the tracks if they turn up on file-sharing sites.”

These embedded data have people wondering about privacy, security and tracking issues. If this is a further security / piracy measure, then there is certainly a lack of full disclosure to the buying public. After all, it is people’s private information.
