Hitachi is shipping a 200 GB notebook hard drive. And, for those people or government agencies with a propensity for losing laptops, “the drive is available with Hitachi’s “bulk data encryption” technology.”

Having the encryption technology is one thing. That is not a guarantee that people will use the encryption. There is no indication of whether the encryption is a “must use” feature.
