Apple MacBook Battery Problems

  • No Related Post

Apple seems to be addressing some battery issues in the MacBook and the MacBook Pro. According to Apple, this is a performance issue and not a safety problem. However, there are reports that the batteries are swelling. In light of the recent battery recalls, including one from Acer, this certainly would give one some anxiety.

“The company advises users to install the update on all “MacBook and MacBook Pro computers and extra batteries that were purchased between February 2006 and April 2007″.

If battery problems persist after the update, Apple has said users should contact their local Apple store or retailer and the firm will arrange replacement batteries free of charge.”

So, MacBook users, please check for a software update.

If you don’t have Apple Care but purchased your laptop within the last two years, read this article about free replacements: apple.com

I spent 40 minutes (mostly on hold, the rest arguing because they were very reluctant and passed me around a lot) and on top of it I got a negative reply in the end.

The page in question was wrong they said. “sorry, we see how you could expect a replacement, but we have a list of serial numbers and yours is not on there…”
I am so disappointed.

My next mac will be bought from a 3rd party with a decent warranty. I thought apple cared about customer satisfaction and the high quality of their products but they just don’t want anything to do with you after the sale is made.

For all you apple employees that can’t (you probably can) believe this, the support case number was 100536246.

The exact same just happened to me. Spent ages on the phone to tech support/customer relations. Wrote an email detailing why Apple needs to extend its battery replacement programme to cover other serial numbers, but to no avail. It is unacceptable that Macbook batteries only last a year and a half!!! To replace my dud battery it’s going to cost €139. Bastards!
