The pet food recall has been expanded:
“WASHINGTON - Federal testing of recalled pet foods turned up a chemical used to make plastics but failed to confirm the presence of a cancer drug also used as rat poison. The recall expanded Friday to include the first dry pet food.”

This pet food recall is growing in the number of products named and in the number of pets in danger. Please be cautious and check the news - as well as checking what is in the cupboards for your pet.

Could we get a clear list of the recalled products?

Fiona, most of the lists seem incomplete because this story is ongoing and the news releases are happening even over the weekend. You may want to look at the later posts that I have done. For example:

I shop at Aldi grocery store. I looked up their website and it showed that only two of their dog food canned items under their brand of dog food which is Shep, for certain best-by-dates only, is on the warning lists; also one cat food canned item. What I want to know is, has any dog owner had illness resulting from use of their dry dog food? I have fed my dogs Kibbles and Bits canned variety food about three times a week along with the dry dog food. They seem to have very little in symptoms, although my female started urinating on the carpet a lot more than usual, and my German shepherd is having trouble with one of his back legs. I am hoping that the Aldi dry food is just fine. I am going to feed them no canned food for the duration, and may start making their food.

It seems it’s really important to know if your brand in included in the recall. It’s easy to miss this detail, and think you’re brand is safe while it’s not.

I’m all for making your own dog food. If you start feeding your dog home made food, you will see an almost immediate positive change in their health. In many cases their fur becomes thicker and shinier!
