Deleting Memory

The ethical concerns would be monumental. If there was a medication to eliminate painful memories, would it be ethical to use? It is a staggering to consider memory manipulation - eliminating events in one’s past:
“The hope is that a post-traumatic stress disorder patient can work with a psychiatrist and focus a traumatic event, take one of these drugs and then slowly forget that event…”

Our experiences and our memories shape us. This is the uniqueness of each individual - it is who we are. It seems that this approach could go far beyond trauma intervention. It is mind control.
