It seems like Denver, Colorado has found a way to use old parking meters:

“The idea is to encourage people to put the money into the parking meters instead of giving to panhandlers. Money raised from the meters will go to organizations fighting homelessness.”

I hope the idea works. However, most people an initial negative connotation with parking meters. For example, they might associate it with parking tickets, faulty meters, and ones that took that money and simply did not work. I am curious as to how people would react to donating through such a means. Perhaps people can see the parking meter as ’socially friendly’…
