How The Grand Opening Of An Apple Store Can Make You Famous

You may have read my post on the opening of the new Apple store in Montreal. I went to cover it for Lockergnome just for the fun of it, but it seems that I might have made my footprint on the Web a bit bigger by doing it… because it seems that people are actually posting about my presence at the opening:

Michael Forian Covers Apple Store Opening in Montreal

July 26, 2008: Apple opened its first official store in Montreal on Friday at 5:00 pm. Call them crazy, call them sick, but they waited 10 hours in line and under the hot summer sun to participate in this historic moment. Canadian Apple fan, Michael Forian, was there to take photos of the grand opening ceremony

“The newest addition of the Apple Store family finally opened in Montreal at 1321 Rue Ste-Catherine. I was there at around 1 PM and was the 16th person in line. People were lined up since 7 AM that morning for the opening at 5 PM,” - he reported on his iForian blog. The first 1,000 visitors received free Apple T-Shirts and Michael was there to get one, “The shirt fits very well but only comes in XL (cost reduction on their part). If you want one, check eBay and grab one while you can!” You can view photos of Apple Store’s grand opening ceremony in Montreal on Michael Forian’s Flickr photostream here

This shocked me! I would have never thought someone would do a write-up on me! But it gets better:

Montreal Apple Store Interview (Michael Forian)

Montreal Apple Store Interview, Michael Forian from http://www.lockergnome.com/forian/ is being interviewed for some Apple corporate videos. He was also the only person in line with a PeeCee laptop so he had to put a sign that says “I know… It’s not a Mac, please dont kill me”. He had a good excuse though, he owns a MacBook but it is in repair 8-(.

That’s me! Someone (who I found out was a cool guy named Fred) recorded a few seconds of my interview with Apple :) ! Plus, people actually wanted to take a photo with me because I has a PC while in the line, which had some creatively written post-it notes (thanks to a very nice lady who gave me the idea):

The post-it notes say: “I know… :(, it’s not a Mac! … PLEASE DON’T KILL ME!”

I want to thank all the people who mentioned me in their blogs, videos or anything really! And I also want to thank the people at the store opening who are reading this for coming and making us laugh and have a good time!

This goes to show that if you’re there at the right time, anything can happen! Feel free to comment!
