Silhouette Shades Or Roller Shades?

Today, Monica asks:
We just moved into a beautiful custom home and we need some window treatments. I want something “cord free” (I have kids and pets) but I want it to still be elegant. The designer I’ve been working with suggested Hunter Douglas silhouette shades or roller shades. Are there any other options to be considered?
Yes Monica, you do have another option for window treatments, Levolor roman shades. They are the only company who offers a cordless roman shade. And you can even get it top-down/ bottom-up. This would give you the elegant style you are looking for without the cords your kids or pets can get hurt on.
You can get the roman shades in flat or hobbled (looped) styles. Flat is great for a more modern, clean look, while flat has soft curvy folds which lends a “richer feel”.
The shades themselves are available in rich colors and a variety of textures. Be sure to check out the Bodrum Stripe collection. The colors from this collection provide a rich and textured satin feel. If you are looking for a room darkening option, you can also have a liner added as well. (A liner is basically a layer of fabric that is embedded to the treatment itself to provide better lightening and darkening options)
Do you have questions about the selecting or the installation of: tile, carpet or wall treatments (blinds, etc)? Then email me your tale of woe and perhaps I will be able to answer your questions right here at the Flooring Diva Blog!
