What Are Heated Tiles?

Installing Tile Made Easy

Today, Bill asks:

My question is about heated tile. What are heated tiles and where can I buy them and can I install them?

In simplest terms, heated tile is accomplished by using heated electric mats placed in thinset cement on the tile floor needing some extra help with the heat. It’s rather clever really, being able to provide heat through a tile floor during any season throughout the year.

Now on to where you can buy them? Obviously, shopping around for the best price is one consideration. But along with this, knowing what you need and how much coverage for which type of room is another. Here is one place to start, using this tool provided by WarmlyYours. What is neat about this online tool is that even if you choose not to buy from them, it can give you an idea of pricing, which means you are better informed as you shop around for the best prices.

Also consider, there is a fair cost involved for such an undertaking. In addition to having new flooring put in, you are also paying for the heating elements, possibly looking at having it tied into your thermostat. The thing to remember is that while tile and heated mat placement is something you can learn to do yourself, hooking the whole thing up to your existing thermostat and breaker box really needs to be done by a licensed pro.

Even though I have not actually tried these out in my own home, I have been told time and time again that there is nothing like stepping onto a heated floor during a cold winter’s day. So if you have the home improvement funds, hate cold floors during the winter, it is highly recommended from the comfort perspective.

Buying heated flooring supplies can be done from WarmlyYours, among other dealers. They can also help you to find the best tile choices as well, which can be purchased locally in your home town.
