Absolutely The Best Carpet For Your Money

Here’s a question I hear multiple times a day. . .

“What’s the absolute best carpet, hands down?”

Honestly I hate this question. But being The Flooring Diva and all, I hear it everyday. I’ve been in this business long enough to tell you that no matter what options a carpet has, even if the carpet was self cleaning, did your dishes and picked the kids up from school, it wouldn’t matter. Because if it doesn’t come in the right color, in YOUR right color more specifically, it doesn’t matter how long it lasts. Some of my colleagues argue that style and touch play a bigger part in selling the carpet, but I have to disagree. I’ve seen people chose different styles, lesser fibers, worse performing carpet, all because it came in the right color and matched their decor perfectly. So you see, that questions is loaded. All I can do, is tell you the carpet I’d put in my own home, and hope that I’ve educated you enough to help you make the right decision for yours.

My favorite carpet is only sold at Home Depot. It’s Puresque by Beaulieu. According to Home Depot; “This revolutionary carpet captures odors and pollutants, keeping homes free of common household contaminants such as smoke, pet and cooking odors.” And I have to say. . .having seen it in action, it does. Several clients have put in their homes (based on my recommendation, one client with an extremely busy home: 4 kids, 1 cat and 2 dogs, yikes!) said “the only drawback I could see, is that it got rid of odors too well. We couldn’t smell the sweet scent of the tree or any of the cinnamon cookie candles we lit in the room at Christmas time. But considering all the bad scents we also lost, I can live with it.”

This brand of carpet is available in 4 different fibers. For my needs I’d go with the maximum durability of the solution dyed nylon, known as Permasoft Plus in the Puresque line. The sales person gave me a sample to take home and trash. It was a light blue texture, that was very very soft. Style name Lake’s Allure. I drew on it with a PERMANENT MARKER until it was as dark as I could get it. Then I set it down for a couple of hours and came back to try to remove the stain. Per manufacturers instructions I used a solution of bleach and water 50/50. After some light scrubbing and a few coats, everything came out. Right before my eyes. And the color was still there. That’s the beauty of solution dyed nylon. The color goes all the way through the fiber, unlike regular nylon that only has been dipped in color. The only thing you need to make sure is that you then thoroughly rinse the affected area out, so that you make sure you don’t leave any bleach in the backing. Over time that will start to breakdown the carpet backing, which will create other problems down the road. There are 5 styles of solution dyed nylon in the Puresque line. My personal favorite is Lakes Allure, it has got to be one of the softest carpets I’ve ever felt, plus all the benefits of Puresque. But that’s just one Flooring Diva’s opinion of the best carpet hands down.
