Does Ready Boost in Windows Vista Really work?

Windows Vista has a new feature called Ready Boost which allows you to use a flash drive as if it were system memory. That sounds like it would be a cool feature, but does it really work? I have found that using my USB 2.0 1GB drive that it gave a small amount of performance boost. Ready Boost works best with fast flash drives that can transfer data a 480 MBPS or more. The slower of a flash drive, the less performance boost. I have found that in some environments that Ready Boost doesn’t do anything. The best thing to do, is to try it out.

I’ve found the same thing with Ready Boost. It’s really dependent on how fast your drive transfers data. Also, it seems to have more noticible impact if you have less RAM. My computer with 2gig of ram seemed to speed up quiet a bit more than my computer with 3gig of ram (that already runs vista really quickly).

What Do You Think?
