Tornado Safety

I was watching the weather channel and I have heard all about the tornados in Missouri so I have made my own tornado safety list:
- Practice before the storm - Have a severe weather drill at home, I know it sounds stupid, but it can save your life.
- Go to the lowest level of your house - If you have a basement that is the best place to be during a tornado, but if you don’t have a basement you can also go in a interior closet or bathroom. If you do decide to go in a interior closet or a bathroom put a mattress over your body to protect you from flying debris. If you are in a mobile home, get out! Mobile homes can not withstand the force of a tornado.
- Stay away from windows.
- If you are in a car, pull off the road and go into a ditch! - Tornados can throw cars hundreds of feet.
- Listen to a Weather radio for updates on the storm.
- When the storm has passed be careful - Some structures can suddenly fall after a tornado.
