Google helps international publishers struggling with a worthless US Dollar

Google has started rolling out a new payment plan for web publishers living outside the United States, and struggling to live with the almost daily declines of the US Dollar.

Adsense customers in Europe, Australia and Canada can now choose to have their earnings converted to their local currency on a daily basis. Google says they will use the current exchange rate each day to calculate earnings, helping publishers overcome the risk their earnings will be greatly reduced when the next payout becomes due.

To give you an idea how the global move out of US Dollars could hurt an international publisher utilising Google Adsense for advertising: at the start of May, $2,500 would have been worth £1,676 British Pounds. By the end of the month, that figure stood at £1,549 - a change of £127.00; a loss of earnings of more than 7.5%.

Obviously this offers only very limited protection against the rapid decline of the dollar. The best bet for savvy publishers is to reduce their exposure to US Dollars by selling as much advertising as possible in Canadian Dollars, Euros, Australian Dollars or British Pounds.
