Quote of the Week (I Think):

“People are too depressed to be sexually active. This is very unhealthy as a nation. Americans can do without cars and such but they cannot do without sex. With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind. It’s time for congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America. The only way they can do this is by supporting the adult industry and doing it quickly.”
~ Larry Flynt

Oh I don’t like Mr. Flynt but I do like what he did politically for freedom of speech. Nice to see he is exercising to show where his mind is and and what, if anything, is in it. I completely forgot about the porn industry pulling us out of the great depression.

Personally, I think we all need to cure are depression with a healthy does of work ethic and long term thinking.

That Larry Flynt. He’s always been pretty good at pointing out the ludicrous. I think that (as his prankster heart probably does) a lot of people will take this as a serious plea to the powers that be for a real handout instead of a wink to his fellow taxpayers that the bailout recipients are, but for the veneer of “respected” American institutions, no more deserving of being bailed out than anyone else who suffers in the current economy — pornographers included.

I seem to remember reading another excerpt from the letter quoted above that said the adult industry’s actually not suffering very much. Maybe the pornographers should be in charge of the national purse strings since they seem to know how to manage money and thrive better than the so-called “experts” we’re bailing out!

What Do You Think?
