Bogus Hallmark Greeting

  • No Related Post

I received this email today. Every link on the page except for the link to view the card is a genuine link to the Hallmark site. The viewing link is to an executable file. I didn’t take it any farther than that. You may also notice that “recieved” is misspelled twice. If you’ve opened this booger, you’d better do some serious scanning. If you can’t read this email at all because your PC crashed, well…

It’s always possible this is some kind of a safe joke. It’s also possible that the Bush twins will be going to Iraq — in uniform.

I’ve gotten litterally DOZENS of these with minor variations EVERY WEEK for the past 2 or 3 months. They all pretend to be from various ECard sites. Never more than 3 or 4 the same. None refer to my name, or my specific Email in the body of the text, so I ****can them immediately. Since I’ve always been extremely careful with the specific Email they all come to, I have a fair Idea what forum group my addy was harvested from, but they continue long after I unsubscribed from the site. In total, they comprise about 80% of the spam that comes to that specific Email.
I delete 5 to 35 every morning. I’m (mildly) curious what would happen if I clicked on the link, but not enough to actually try it - even if I were using my worst enemy’s computer to do it!
