Google Talk Now Available for iPhone

“We’ve just released in the US a new version of Google Talk designed specifically for the iPhone and iPod Touch browsers. In addition to sending your friends Gmail messages from your iPhone, you can now chat with them while you’re on the move, too! In your iPhone browser, just go to www.google.com sign in and start chatting. That’s it. Google Talk runs entirely in the browser so there’s no need to download or install anything.”

There you have Google has launched Google Talk for the iPhone and iPod Touch, App Store not needed. I believe this is long over due considering that all of the other Google services are available for the iPhone. I am still going to bet that Google will release some of their services as apps for the App Store, like maybe Google Docs where you can actually create and edit documents.

I just tested the web app and it seems to run great. It looks and feels like a native iPhone app but I have one problem with the service. If what ever you navigate away from the web page it will change your status to unavailable.
