OS X 10.5.4 launching before July 11?

Here is some good news to wake up to, AppleInsider is reporting that 10.5.4, the next update for Leopard, could launch before July 11.

People aware of the newest build, titled 9E17, say the beta fix again lists no known issues and that just two fixes have been made in the ten days between releases, both of which center around bugs with iCal’s shortcuts and sync.

So it appears that 10.5.4 will fix general bugs and focus on iCal and sync. I have had some bugs with other programs like Boot Camp and Mail, I wonder if they will get fixes? AppleInsider goes on to say that this update is in conjunction with Apple’s new MobileME service.

As we reported a while back, OS X 10.5.4 should incorporate support for Apple’s new MobileMe web service.

So with this news it sounds like Apple is right on time for its July 11 release date of the iPhone 3G. Still the question remains, when will the 2.0 firmware be released for current iPhone and iPod Touch users?
