iPod Touch January Update gone?
Recently I was looking to finally add the new applications and “wiggle” feature to my iPod Touch via the January Update in iTunes but was shocked when I found that it was no where to be found. At first I thought maybe before I might of clicked the “do not show again” button but after finding a link on Apple’s website for the update the link took me nowhere.
So what happened to the update?
My guess is that it will part of the new $10 update to the 2.0 firmware, and that the applications like Mail and Maps will be for sale in the app store for a reasonable price. Or maybe Apple can pull a shocker and give us the new firmware, the wiggle feature, and the apps for only $10, but this is highly unlikely.
So for us early adopters we will have to wait until early July to update again.

Argh. I restored my jailbroken 1.1.1 touch last night as I was planning to get the upgrade and then jailbreak it again. But alas, the january upgrade is nowhere to be found. And the 1.1.4 jailbreak does not work. So I am back down to a basic touch. I miss my apps…I could downgrade it to 1.1.1 but that seems like a big headache to do…This new update can’t come soon enough for me!

I feel you man. I was planning on going legit and buying the update but we will have to wait until the new firmware drops in the coming weeks. On the plus side the update will only be $10.

Yep, Apple Store made the January update unavailable a short while ago, this is because of the new update due to release in July (I hope).
I restored my iPod after it crashed expecting to be able to re-download the update I *paid* for.
Apple explains all the features are going to be in the new update, but this means we will have to pay for the new one… again.
Oh well,
Aaron.

I got the 1.1.4 jailbreak to work and got all my apps back plus the January update. Am thinking of going 2.0 but waiting to see if any of the apps from the app store are worth it. In the meantime, am looking at the iphone 3g. Loopt app seems cool.
